epilogue may 15th, 2018 eight years ago we set out to create the first truly secure end-to-end encrypted file transfer service. to begin with in 2010 we struggled with the state of web browser technology, internet explorer did not support the features necessary to support such a site and we struggled with the problems involved with asking users to install and use a different web browser just to use our site. after a couple of years of advancement those problems were solved, and we felt confident that we could push the service out to a greater number of users. unfortunately we then faced the problem of educating users on why exactly our software was more secure than the alternatives. this was compounded by the fact that competing sites also made claims of security which confused users. the additional security we offered came with certain usability downsides. the primary one is that we required all recipients of files to sign up and active their account before a file could be sent to them. this was vital to the technology involved (public/private key cryptography). however it was a hurdle that many users were not willing to pass. given this and the failure to monetize the service, led to its steady decline. now with the new gdpr regulations coming out we would need to do some work to revisit the service to ensure we are reaching all the obligations necessary. unfortunately it is not something we can spare the time for, as other revenue generating projects take priority. therefore we will no longer be running the service. i would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our users who have been with us on this journey. sincerely, jon taylor [email protected]
